Configuring UCx Infinity Desktop Client


In previous releases, the UCx supported a WebRTC client (WebRTC stands for “Web Real-Time Communications), a technology focused on embedding real-time communications, such as voice, directly within web browsers. The new UCx InfinityOne Desktop client builds on that technology and allows users to make and take calls directly from their computer desktop. E-MetroTel's UCx InfinityOne Desktop client supports Enterprise telephony features and more. The following is a list of some of the features:

  • Single click to call
  • Speakerphone, mute and transfer capabilities
  • N way Conference, forward and hold calls
  • Do Not Disturb or Make Set Busy
  • Missed calls indicator
  • Support for Voicemail with Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
  • TLS & SRTP encryptions
  • Busy Lamp Field (BLF)
  • Shared Line Appearances 
  • Call Center Features
  • Hotdesking


To use the UCx InfinityOne Desktopclient, you need the following:

  • Your UCx system must be on software release 6.0 
  • The infinity_one package must be installed on your UCx system
  • Your firewall must have a rule to allow TCP communication over port 21324 for the UCx InfinityOne Desktopclient to function.  

From Release 6.0 and up, the WebRTC is replaced with InfinityOne Desktop within the InfinityOne application. See InfinityOne - Setting up Softphone.


The user's computer that will be running the UCx InfinityOne Desktop client can be a Windows, Mac (OS X) or Linux platform. 

Note: Tablets and mobile devices are not fully supported at this time


Install the infinity_one Package

  1. Login to the UCx Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. From the System tab, select Updates
  3. From the left side column, select Packages
  4. Click on Show Filter
  5. Under Status pull-down, select All
  6. Perform this step ONLY IF the server has been upgraded from Release 5.0:
    • In the Name field, enter mscs and click on Search
    • If the mscs package is installed then click on the Uninstall link, otherwise skip and go to Step 7.
    • Wait for the system to respond with a successful uninstall message
  7. In the Name field, enter infinity_one
  8. Under Status pull-down, select All
  9. Click the Search button
  10. Click on the Install link in the Action column to install the infinity_one package​
  11. Wait for the system to respond with a successful install message


To check if the UCx InfinityOne Desktop Server is running after the installation, you can navigate to the System - Dashboard page.
From the pull-down list, you can select to start, stop or restart the process.


  1. From the Support tab, select System Log Files
  2. From the pull-down list, you will see a new log file named infinity_one.log


Refer to the procedures for Voice and Phone features section of the InfinityOne Administration Guide for complete UCx configuration details for enabling users to make telephony calls from the desktop client.

Cannot load the client.
  • Check if the firewall on the computer or the network is preventing access to the UCx Server.
  • Navigate to the Dashboard and check if the UCx InfinityOne Server is running.
Cannot start the infinity_one service.
  • Navigate to the System Log Files page and check for errors in the messages and infinity_one.log files.
