Enhanced Archive (R4.0)

Feature Description

The UCx Enhanced Archive (Call Recording Back Up) application was developed to provide a simple method of automatically backing up call recording files from the UCx hard drive to a remote FTP server. The application has the following attributes:

  • Call recording files are backed up periodically to a specified external FTP server
  • The application does not remove any files from the UCx system
  • The application provides a log file report on the status of backups

Pre-Requisites

UCx Enhanced Archive is a licensed feature (product code EA) and requires a license from E-MetroTel.

After you have obtained an updated license string with the Enhanced Archive application license enabled, you will need to update your UCx system to the latest software and install the Enhanced Archive software package to begin using the application.  An external FTP server is also required.

Configure FTP Server

The FTP server requires the following configuration:

  • The FTP server must be reachable on the network by the UCx system
  • The FTP server must have a user configured to be used by the Enhanced Archive application
  • The home directory of the FTP user must be an empty directory on the FTP server that is dedicated for storage of the backed-up call recording files. There will be no subdirectory created by the Enhanced Archive application to store the backed-up files (the files are stored directly in the home directory of the specified FTP user)
  • The FTP user must have full privileges for the home directory on the FTP server. Below is an example of configuring a user on a FileZilla FTP server. 

Install License String

Install the new license string with the Enhanced Archive application included.

Install Software Package

Install the ucx-earchive software package:

  • Prior to the installation of the Enhanced Archive package, update the software on your UCx system to the latest release (see Software Update in the Administration Guide)
  • Go to Packages page under the System - Updates tab in the Web-Based Configuration Utility (see Packages in the Administration Guide for detailed instructions)
  • Press the Show Filter button, enter the name "ucx-earchive", select Status = All and press the Search button to find the package
  • Click on Install link in the status column to install the package

Configure the Application

To configure the application, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the UCx Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. From the PBX tab, select Tools
  3. From the left side column, select Enhanced Archive
  4. In the Schedule field, the default value is Disabled, this setting indicates the Enhanced Archive is disabled
  5. To enable the Enhanced Archive application, select Hourly or Daily from the pull-down list
  6. If Daily is selected, you can select the Hour (in 24 hour time format) to perform the archive
  7. Enter the FTP Server IP Address, User ID and Password
  8. Press the Save button to complete the configuration

Check Log Files

To check the status of the backups, perform the following steps: 

  1. Open the UCx Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. From the Support tab, select System Log Files
  3. From the pull-down menu, select ucx_earchive.log
