InfinityOne Release 2 - Enable and Register Softphone

If your administrator has configured a softphone extension for you or you are going to be using the same extension as your current desktop device, here are the steps to enable and register the InfinityOne Softphone.

Enable Softphone

Web/Desktop Interface

The Desktop interface allows you to always be connected and ready to receive calls, even when the application window is not open, provided it is "started". (You have the option to configure the application to always start on login.) The Web softphone allows you to stay connected from anywhere as long as you have a web browser open.  E-MetroTel recommends using either the mobile or Desktop softphone, although the Web softphone provides a good solution when those options are not available (such as an employee needing to quickly make a phone call while away from the office).

  1. Click on the account box (top left where your username and avatar are shown)
  2. Select My Account
  3. Select Phone
  4. Toggle on the Enable Softphone switch
  5. The page will automatically refresh and return to the home page

Mobile Interface

The mobile softphone interface is always ready to make and receive calls, and even interacts with the native mobile device interface for managing voice calls in the locked state.

Register Softphone using Set-based Configuration (dedicated extension)

When registering the softphone with a dedicated extension, you use the Config softkey to identify the extension you plan to use (as assigned by your administrator).

  1. From the home page on the Web/Desktop interface, select any channel on the left navigation pane to display the right icon bar, or, on the mobile interface, navigate to the Messages window.
  2. Click on the phone icon  on the Web/Desktop interface, or iPhoneSoftphoneIcon.png on the mobile interface.

  3. If the phone is not registered, proceed to register by clicking on the Config key. Note that the following steps apply to all user interfaces, but the Web/Desktop interface is shown.
  4. Enter the password provided by your administrator (this is the Set based configuration password)
  5. Enter your softphone extension number
  6. Your phone is now registered and you can proceed to make calls using the softphone

Register Softphone using Hotdesking (existing extension)

When registering the softphone to use with an existing extension, you use the HotDesk softkey to identify the extension you plan to use (as instructed by your administrator).

  3. If the phone is not registered, proceed to register by clicking on the HotDesk key. Note that the following steps apply to all user interfaces, but the mobile interface is shown.
