Gateway Configuration

Accessing the Gateway

  1. Connect the Mediatrix 1204 to the network and power it up.
  2. The system will power up and obtain an IP address via DHCP (default factory setting). Using "nmap" or "wireshark" or by looking at the router, determine the IP address.
  3. Open a web browser from a PC connected to the same network and enter the IP address from step 2.
  4. Login using the default username (admin) and password (1234)

Update Network Settings

The example in this section assumes the UCx Server has the IP address 192.168.1.200 and the steps are to configure the Gateway to be in the same subnet as the UCx Server.

  1. Click the Management tab, then click the Network Settings button
  2. In the third box down from the top labeled Network Settings, click the button labeled Static
  3. Set the IP address to be 192.168.1.201
  4. Set the Subnet Mask to be 255.255.255.0
  5. Set the Default Router to be 192.168.1.1
  6. Set the Primary DNS to be 192.168.1.1
  7. Set the Secondary DNS to be 8.8.8.8
  8. Go to the last box on the page labeled SNTP and click the Enable button
  9. Select Static from the drop down box labled SNTP Source
  10. Enter pool.ntp.org in the field labeld SNTP Host
  11. Scroll to the bottom of the page and press the Submit button

Configure SIP

  1. Click the SIP tab at the top of the page
  2. In the second box down from the top labeled SIP Configuration, click the button labeled Static
  3. Set the SIP Domain to be 192.168.1.200 (IP address of the UCx Server)
  4. Enter 192.168.1.200 into the Proxy Host field
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and press the Submit button

Configure Telephony

  1. Click the Telephony tab and then click the CODEC button
  2. Select the port from the dropdown box on the top left hand side of the page
  3. Ensure the correct CODEC is selected, for example g711-PCMU in the General Settings box
  4. Select outOfBandUsingRtp from the drop down box labeled DTMF Transport
  5. Change the setting in the field labeled DTMF Payload Type to 101
  6. In the Voice - G.711 settings, go to the G.711 VAD field and select disable from the drop down box to disable silence suppression.
  7. Go to the bottom of the page and press the Submit button
  8. Repeat these steps for EVERY PORT in STEP 22

Configure Gateway from UNM (Unit Network Manager)

SNMP

  1. Reboot the system and wait for it to reconnect to the network
  2. Connect to the system using UNM (Unit Network Manager)
  3. Right mouse click on the unit to be configured and select the Edit SNMP item.
  4. Ensure Automatic Get is selected on the toolbar at the top of the screen

Answer Delay

  1. Navigate to: iso>org>dod>internet>private>enterprises>mediatrix>mediatrixConfig>fxoMIB>fxoMIBObjects>fxoIfAnsweringDelayTable
  2. Change fxoPreAnswerDelay for each line from 8000 to 3000
  3. Change fxoWaitForCalleeToAnswerEnable for each line to enable
  4. Press the Set button on the tool bar at the top of the UNM screen

Auto Terminate

  1. To set the Gateway to terminate to a specific DN or service, from the main UNM navigation tree click the "plus" sign next to the unit to configure
  2. Double click the Telephony Attributes tree
  3. For each line select enable and enter the DN that the gateway is required to terminate on
  4. Press OK when you are done

UCx Configuration

  1. Login to the UCx Server (UCx Web-based Configuration Utility)
  2. Go to PBX - PBX Configuration - Trunks to add a SIP trunk (Adding SIP Trunks)
  3. Under General Settings, enter a descriptive name in the Trunk Name field
  4. Under Outgoing Settings, enter the Trunk Name (can be the same or different from the name in General Settings, but cannot have spaces)
  5. Under PEER Details, enter the following lines (example below assumes IP address of the Gateway is 192.168.1.201)
    host=192.168.1.201
    type=peer
    qualify=yes
    context=from-trunk
    insecure=port,invite
    dtmfmode=rfc2833
  6. Ensure that all the Incoming Settings are blank
  7. Ensure that the Registration String field is blank
  8. Press the Submit button
  9. Press the Apply Config bar at the top of the page

Check Status of the Gateway

  1. Navigate to PBX - Tools - Asterisk CLI (Asterisk CLI)
  2. Enter the command sip show peers
  3. Press the Execute button and the status of the SIP peers (devices) will be displayed similar to the example below:

Change to GROUND START Trunks

The Mediatrix Gateway is set to use Loop Start Trunks by default from the factory.  To change to Ground Start Trunks, perform the following steps:

  1. Using the UNM software, navigate to:
    iso>org>dod>internet>private>enterprises>mediatrix>mediatrixConfig>fxoMIB>fxoMIBObjects>fxoIfAnalogLineType
  2. Change each port that needs to be changed from loopStart to groundStart.  
  3. Save your settings and reboot the Gateway for the changes to take effect
  4. If the trunks do not work after you have made the changes to the Gateway then you may need to swap tip and ring connections on the wiring connection
