Software Requirements

For support of Nortel Meridian Taurus M3902/M3903/M3904 and Aries 2006/2008/2616 digital phone sets, your UCx server requires the MDSE license.

For support of analog sets, your UCx server requires both the MDSE and MA licenses.

Hardware Requirements

CS1000 hardware required for MGC:

  • Meridian Option 11C Cabinet (10 card, NTAK11) / MG 1000E Chassis (4 card, NTDU14) / MG 1010 Chassis (10 card, NTC310)
  • Meridian Option 11 Mini Main Chassis (4 card, NTDK91)
  • Media Gateway Controller (MGC) card NTDW60
  • DSP daughter-boards (32-port, 96-port, 128-port)
A minimum of 96 DSP ports is required in order to be supported.

CS1000 hardware required for MGXPEC:

  • Meridian UPE shelf
  • Media Gateway eXtended Peripheral Equipment Controller (MGXPEC) card & NTDW20

CS1000 hardware required for digital phones

  • Digital Line Cards (DLC) NT8D02

CS1000 hardware required for analog phones

  • Analog Line Cards with Message Waiting feature support (M/WALC) NT8D09

 

A UCx MGC compact flash must be purchased for each MGC in order to be supported.

The cards listed above are the only cards allowed in the chassis or cabinet. The system will not be supported if there are any other cards present in the chassis or cabinet.

For example the Universal line card and the 48-port Digital Line Card (NTDK16) that fits into slot 4 of the Option 11 mini main chassis is NOT supported.

 

MG1000E Chassis

The NTDU14 Media Gateway 1000E cabinet has DIP switches on the front panel (above the circuit card slots). The -150V setting switch has to be set to enable Message Waiting Lamps to work on analog sets.
Set the DIP switch settings (1 to 8 from left to right) for the MG1000E to the following:

Option 11 Mini Main Chassis

The Option 11 mini main chassis has the same DIP switch requirements as the MG1000E above.

Network Requirements

  • The Media Gateway must be deployed in a network on a separate voice LAN from the management LAN.
  • The IP addresses assigned to UCx server, MGC ELAN, MGC TLAN and MGC DSP daughterboard TLAN must be in the same subnet. (E.g. 192.168.10.x as in diagram below)
