UCx250 as PRI Gateway

Pre-Requisites

Prepare the following required components:

  • UCx250 PRI Gateway - UCx250 with PSTN PRI card acting as PRI Gateway.
  • UCx Primary Server - UCx acting as the Primary Server

Configuring the UCx250 PRI Gateway

STEP ONE - Configure PRI trunk

  1. Install PRI-1S card in the UCx250.
  2. Configure the card under PSTN Cards.
  3. Configure the PRI trunk as a DAHDI Trunk.

STEP TWO - Configure SIP trunk

  1. Navigate to PBX -> IP Trunk Assistant page.
  2. Press the New Account button.
  3. Enter a unique name for this account in the Account Name field (it is recommended to NOT use spaces in the name)
  4. Select UCx in the Trunk Provider drop down list box.
  5. In the Host / IP field, enter the IP address of the UCx Primary Server. You can add a port number to the address suffixing with a colon followed by the port number (e.g. 192.168.1.200:5000).
  6. Press the Save button to create the new account.

STEP THREE - Configure Inbound Route

  1. Navigate to PBX -> PBX Configuration -> Inbound Routes.
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the route in the Description field. It is recommended to list the DID(s) in the name.
  3. Enter the DID number or pattern in the DID Number field.
    Preceding the value with an underscore '_' indicates the following value is a pattern. For example: _2[345]X is to match any 3 digit DID number that starts with 23, 24 or 25.
  4. Scroll down to the Set Destination section, select Trunks followed by the SIP trunk built in STEP TWO.
  5. Press the Submit button to save the inbound route.

STEP FOUR - Configure Inbound Route(s) for calls coming from UCx to route out the PRI

  1. Navigate to PBX -> PBX Configuration -> Inbound Routes.
  2. Enter a descriptive name in the Route Name field. (e.g. From_UCX_11Digits)
  3. In the DID Number section, enter one or more dial patterns that the Gateway wiill receive from the Primary UCx Server. (e.g. _1xxxxxxxxxx)
  4. Scroll down to the Set Destination section, select Trunks followed by the PRI trunk built in STEP ONE.
  5. Press the Submit button followed by the Apply Config bar.

Note: You will need one route for each dial pattern, i.e. Local, International, etc.

STEP FIVE - Disable Features that could lead to Toll Fraud

  1. Navigate to the Dial Plan and Operational section of the PBX / PBX Configuration / Advanced Settings page.
  2. Find the entry Disallow Transfers for Inbound Callers and make sure it is set to Yes.GatewayDisallowTransfers.png

Configuring the UCx Primary Server

STEP ONE - Configure Inbound Route

  1. Navigate to PBX -> PBX Configuration -> Inbound Routes.
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the route in the Description field.
  3. Enter the DID number or pattern in the DID Number field.
  4. Scroll down to the Set Destination section, select the desired destination. Note this may be a Time Condition, IVR, Ring Group, etc.
  5. Press the Submit button to save the inbound route.

STEP TWO - Configure SIP trunk

  1. Navigate to PBX -> IP Trunk Assistant page.
  2. Press the New Account button.
  3. Enter a unique name for this account in the Account Name field (it is recommended to NOT use spaces in the name)
  4. Select UCx in the Trunk Provider drop down list box.
  5. In the Host / IP field, enter the IP address of the UCx250 PRI Gateway.
  6. Press the Save button to create the new account.

STEP THREE - Configure Outbound Route

  1. Navigate to PBX -> PBX Configuration -> Outbound Routes.
  2. Enter a descriptive name in the Route Name field.
  3. In the Dial Patterns section, enter one or more dial patterns that will use this route to send calls to the UCx250 PRI Gateway.
  4. In the Trunk Sequence section, select the SIP trunk built in STEP TWO.
  5. Press the Submit button followed by the Apply Config bar.

STEP FOUR - Disable Features that could lead to Toll Fraud (Optional)

  1. Navigate to the Dial Plan and Operational section of the PBX / PBX Configuration / Advanced Settings page.
  2. Find the entry Disallow Transfers for Inbound Callers and make sure it is set to Yes.GatewayDisallowTransfers.png
