5. Configure Paging Gateway

5.1. Access the Web Interface

Launch a browser window and enter the IP address of the Paging Gateway.

Login using the default login credentials:

  • Username = admin
  • Password = admin

5.2 Upgrade Firmware

  1. Download the latest firmware from this URL link: X10 SIP Paging Gateway Firmware and unzip the file into a folder on your computer.
  2. From the Paging Gateway's web interface, navigate to the System -> Upgrade page.
  3. Check the firmware version listed on the page, if outdated, proceed to upgrade to the latest .img firmware file located on your computer from step 1 above.

5.3. Add SIP accounts

The X10 Paging Gateway (PG) supports up to 3 SIP accounts: One primary and two secondary accounts. The primary and secondary accounts can be used to whichever is the primary function of the paging unit.
In our example below, we will use the primary account for the "warehouse ringer" and one secondary account for paging announcements.

From the Paging Gateway's web interface, navigate to SIP Settings -> Primary SIP Account page and perform the following steps:

  • SIP Server field, enter IP address of UCX Server.
  • SIP Port field, enter the port number used by UCX Server (default 5060).
  • User ID and Auth User fields, enter the SIP extension configured on the UCX Server.
  • Password field, enter the secret/password of the SIP extension configured on the UCX Server.
  • Transport field is UDP.
  • Auto Answer should be OFF and select a Ring Tone
  • Select the Activate checkbox

If the PG is connecting to a UCX Cloud Server, the default SIP port number is 5960..

  • Click the Submit button to save the settings.

In this example, the purpose of the primary account is just to play a ringtone in the warehouse and not answer the call. The primary SIP extension should be included in a Ring Group to trigger the ring along with any telephones that are supposed to ring.  The PG device will never answer a call, its function is to just ring.

Navigate to the Secondary SIP Account 1 page and repeat the above steps to create the secondary SIP account:

  • SIP Server field, enter IP address of UCX Server
  • SIP Port field, enter the port number used by UCX Server (default 5060)
  • User ID and Auth User fields, enter the SIP extension configured on the UCX Server
  • Password field, enter the secret/password of the SIP extension configured on the UCX Server
  • Transport field is UDP.
  • Auto Answer should be ON.
  • Select the Activate checkbox

If the PG is connecting to a UCX Cloud Server, the default SIP port number is 5960..

  • Click the Submit button to save the settings

In this example, the purpose of the secondary account is to automatically answer and broadcast the announcement.
You can test the setup by calling the secondary SIP extension directly. The PG unit will auto-answer the call and broadcast.
When the paging group number is called (e.g. *700), a paging tone is played first then the PG unit will start broadcasting.

5.4. Volume Control

Navigate to Advanced -> Volume page to adjust the volume level of the speakers:

Click on the Submit button to save the settings.
