Call Transfer and Recall

Feature Description

Call Transfer

UCX supports the following three variants of Call Transfer:

  1. ATTENDED - XSTIM-based Attended Transfer (Default)
  2. ASTERISK BLIND - Built-in Blind Transfer
  3. ASTERISK ATTENDED - Built-in Attended Transfer.

These transfer types can be assigned differently to the Transfer softkey on either a system-wide or per extension basis.

You set the default Transfer type for all XSTIM devices (system-wide) in the XSTIM Settings page. You can then selectively choose a different type from the default on a per extension basis in each extensions' own XSTIM Settings page.

Recall

When a call is transfered to a destination that does not answer in a finite amount of time, some users may desire that the transferred party return to the transferring party so the call can be handled personally again without the caller abandoning the call. This is referred to as Call Transfer Recall. However, other users may wish to transfer a call to another extension and let the owner of that extension be responsible for how the call is handled in a no-answer situation.

The UCX supports multiple variations of Call Transfer, each with a different behavior for Recall.

Transfer Operation

ATTENDED

This is the default transfer mode for new systems. This mode enables the XSTIM based softkey user interface for collecting and editing dialed digits. The Transferor has the option of talking with the Transfer-to party prior to transferring the call and can complete or cancel the transfer using softkeys.

The Recall function is not supported in this mode.

ASTERISK BLIND

In this mode, digit collection is performed using inband signaling and there are no options to cancel the transfer. The Transferor does not have the option of talking with the Transfer-to party prior to transferring the call.

The Recall function will proceed only if the following conditions are met:

  1. The target extension (transfer-to) must not have voicemail configured
  2. The target extension (transfer-to) must not have Optional Destinations defined for Busy or No Answer conditions

If these conditions are met, the transferred call will ring for the duration of the target extension's Ringtime value (default = 20 sec), at which point the call will begin ringing the original transferor's extension.

ASTERISK ATTENDED

In this mode, digit collection is performed using inband signaling. Once the transfer-to number has been dialed, context-sensitive softkeys will be presented to the transferor for completing the transfer, canceling the transfer, or conferencing both parties into a three-way call.

The Recall function will proceed with no conditions. That is, the target extension can have voicemail or other Optional Destination(s) set. The transferred call will ring for the lesser of No Answer Timeout for Attended Transfer value (default = 15 sec) or the duration of the target extension's Ringtime value (default = 20 sec) both of which are configured on a system-wide basis on the Advanced Settings (7.0) at which point the call will begin ringing the original transferor's extension. The Ringtime value can also be set on a per-extension basis in the Extensions page.
