The UCx Digital Gateway software is supported on all releases of the BCM50 hardware. For BCM50 R1 hardware units with firmware version 2.04 or earlier, an update of the firmware is required to ensure reliable operation. For other BCM50 hardware units with firmware released prior to the year 2007, an update of the firmware is recommended. The firmware update procedure is described in the section Updating BCM Firmware.
The UCx Digital Gateway software is supported on all releases of the BCM450 hardware.
UCx Digital Gateway supports the following Digital Station Modules (DSM):
The current release of the UCx Digital Gateway software supports the following Nortel digital phones and devices:
The maximum capacity supported by the UCx Digital Gateway software is 80 telephone sets (76 Nortel digital phones plus 4 analog phones). To achieve this capacity, the system must consist of the main unit (DGHb or DGS) and two expansion chassis (DGEb):
The maximum number of concurrent calls supported by the UCx Digital Gateway software is 50.
The maximum capacity supported by the BCM450 Digital Gateway is 320 digital phones. To achieve this capacity, the system must consist of the main chassis (DGS2) and an expansion chassis (BCM 1000e):
The maximum number of concurrent calls supported by the BCM450 Digital Gateway is 170. Installing the Capacity Expansion Card (CEC) increases the maximum number of supported concurrent calls to 320.
For configurations that require more than the supported capacity, multiple UCx Digital Gateways may be deployed up to the maximum capacity of the UCx system (UCx50E/450/1000).
UCx Digital Gateways can be deployed in the Local Area Network (LAN) and/or the Wide Area Network (WAN) effectively scaling this solution to multiple locations that are using Nortel digital telephones.
