M325 DECT Bundle

Introduction

This single cell DECT package includes the M300 base station and one M25 handset, forming a uniquely powerful and expansive mobile telephony solution. This package can be extended with up to 20 additional Snom DECT handsets from the single M300 base station, and is ideal for creating mobile telephony in a small office environment.

With a range of up to 300 meters outdoors and approximately 50 meters indoors, the base station provides broad coverage, which can be extended by adding up to three M5 repeaters. This single cell DECT solution is easy to install and provision, and utilizes the same interface as Snom desk phones for a comfortable and familiar user experience.

Configuration

WARNING: E-MetroTel has been successful in creating interoperability with the referenced phone using our open SIP Standards implementation. E-MetroTel is not responsible for maintaining interoperability support should the manufacturer modify the behavior of their SIP implementation in subsequent releases.

STEP ONE: on the UCx Server

  1. Login to the UCx Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. Navigate to PBX - PBX Configuration - Extensions page
  3. Add an Extension for a Generic SIP Device with the following basic parameters:
    • User Extension (e.g. 525)
    • Display Name
    • secret
  4. Click on Submit to create the extension
  5. Press the Apply Config bar at the top

STEP TWO: on the M300 Base Station

Refer to the M300 Admin Manual for details on setup and usage. Configuration of the M300 base station is performed via its web interface.
You can use any M65, M85, or M25 handset in the vicinity of the base station to find its IP address. The handset does not need to be registered at the base..

  • Press the menu key on the M65/M85 handset or the center of the navigation key on the M25.
  • The main menu screen will appear on the display.
  • Type *47* (star 47 star) on the keypad of the handset and the IP Search screen opens.
  • If your handset detects more than one base station within range, check the MAC address on the back of your base station and use the navigation key to select your base.
  • The IP address of the selected base will be displayed.

Normally the initialization of the base station is completely automatic, using DHCP. If the base station cannot discover a DHCP server in the subnet, you can set it up manually via its web interface., you will need to enter the IP address, netmask, gateway, and DNS server.

STEP THREE: Accessing Web Interface

From a web browser, enter the IP address of the base station (for example: http://192.168.0.131). Login to the web interface (default username and password is admin, admin).

STEP FOUR: Configure Server

From the left navigation panel, click on Servers. Under the Servers page, enter the UCx Server IP address in the Registrar field. Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.

STEP FIVE: Configure Extension(s)

From the left navigation panel, click on Extensions. Under the Extensions and Handsets page, click on the Add extension link or click on an existing extension to modify it.

Enter the following information for the extension that was created on the UCx Server:

  • Extension - Enter the user's extension (e.g. 525)
  • Authentication User Name - Enter the user's extension (e.g. 525)
  • Authentication Password - Enter the secret
  • Display Name - Enter the desired name
  • Fill in the following fields if this extension has a voicemail box:
    • Mailbox Name - Enter the user's extension (e.g. 525)
    • Mailbox Number - Enter the value *97
  • Server - Select the UCx Server from the pull-down list

STEP SIX: Configure Handset(s)

On the right side of the page under Select Handset(s), select the checkbox for the handset to be associated with this extension. If this is a new handset not yet registered, select the checkbox for Add Handset.
Click on the Save button.

If an unregistered handset was selected, perform the following steps to enter the IPEI of the handset:

  • From the Extensions page, click on the link under the IPEI column (an unregistered handset will show FFFFFFFFFF)
  • Enter the IPEI of the handset.
    To find the IPEI, open the Settings menu of the handset, select Status, and scroll down to the IPEI at the end of the handset status. The IPEI consists of a string of 10 characters, omit the colons.

  • Click on the Save button

STEP SEVEN: Register Extension(s)

  1. From the Extensions page, select the checkbox(s) beside the extension(s) and click the Start SIP Registration(s) link to register the handset(s).

STEP EIGHT: Adding Multiple Extensions

When adding multiple handsets/extensions, the following configuration needs to be updated:

  1. From the left navigation panel, click on Network
  2. Change Use Different SIP Ports field to Enabled.
  3. Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.
