DSM16 - Supported Hardware and Capacity

Supported Hardware

The DSM16 is a plug-in card that is installed in either the Galaxy Expand or Galaxy Express chassis to enable Nortel/Avaya/Panasonic digital telephones to interface to UCX server software.

Note that each individual DSM16p card can only support digital phones from either the Norstar / BCM grouping, the Meridian 1 / CS1000 grouping, the Avaya grouping or the Panasonic grouping at the same time. If you have a mixture of phone types you must use multiple DSM16p cards.

Refer to Panasonic Digital Phones for details of the supported capabilities and limitations.

Supported Capacity

The maximum capacity supported by one DSM16p module or card is 16 telephone sets.  Expansion beyond this capacity is achieved by deploying multiple DSM16s.

The DSM16 is non-blocking, meaning that all 16 connected sets may be used concurrently.

Multiple UCX Digital Station Modules and Network Deployments

For configurations that require more than the supported capacity of a single card, multiple DSM16p cards may be configured with as little as a single active digital phone up to the maximum licensed capacity number of extensions of the UCX system.

DSM16p cards can be deployed in the Local Area Network (LAN) and/or the Wide Area Network (WAN) enabling DSM16p cards to be deployed across multiple sites that are either remote a Galaxy hardware system running UCX software, an E-MetroTel Cloud system, or UCX virtualization software implementation.
