Outbound Routes
In order to be able to place outbound calls from your UCX system, you must configure one or more outbound routes. When a telephone user dials a number on their phone, the UCX system compares the number with patterns defined in your outbound routes (from the first route to the last). When a pattern is matched, the number is passed to the trunk configured for the route to make a call.
Route Settings
To add an outbound route, perform the following steps:
- Open the UCX Web-based Configuration Utility
- From the PBX tab, select PBX Configuration
- From the left side column, select Outbound Routes
- Route Name - Enter a name for the route
- Route CID - Enter the Caller ID information that is to be used for outbound calls when using this route.
- Override Extension - Select this checkbox if you want the Route CID to override the Extension CID. Note that the Extension's Emergency CID will still be used if this is an Emergency route and the Emergency CID is defined.
- Route Password - Enter a password to prompt users for a password before allowing calls to progress. Leave this field blank to not prompt for password. (See PIN Set field below.)
-
Route Type - this is optional:
- Emergency - Select this only if this route will be used for emergency calls, e.g. 911. This will force the use of the extensions's emergency CID if defined.
- Intra-Company - Select this only if this route is used for intra-company calls. The internal Caller ID will be used instead of the outbound CID.
- Music on Hold? - Choose the music category to use or leave it at default.
- Time Group - To customize the behavior of your outbound routes, you can create time groups and use them with your routes to achieve the desired routing of outbound calls based on the time of day or the day of week. See Time Groups and Conditions for details.
-
Route Position - Choose where to insert this route relative to other routes.
Additional Settings
The following table describes the additional route settings available:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Trunk Group ID |
ID of the trunk group to be used with SIP trunks that support selection of a specific outbound trunk group (OTG). |
Shared Calls Tag | A tag used for Shared Call Appearances feature. |
Max. Call Duration | The maximum duration of an outbound call originated using this route. Enter the maximum duration in seconds (15 to 30000) or leave this field blank for unlimited. |
Call Recording |
Controls or overrides the call recording behaviour for calls coming into this route. |
PIN Set | Select a PIN Set to use. Default value s None. If using this option, leave the Route Password field blank. |
Dial Patterns that use this Route
Enter one or more dial patterns that will choose this route and send calls over the selected trunks in the Dial Patterns section of the page.
You can either use the Dial pattern wizards to populate the fields with standard dial patterns or you can create customized dial patterns using the following syntax:
Match Characters: The following special matching sequences can be used in any of the fields:
X matches any digit from 0-9
Z matches any digit from 1-9
N matches any digit from 2-9
[1237-9] matches any digit in the brackets (in this example: 1,2,3,7,8,9)
. wildcard, matches one or more dialed digits
Prepend Field: Enter digits to prepend to a successful match. If the dialed number matches the patterns specified by the subsequent columns, then this will be prepended before sending to the trunks.
Prefix Field: Enter the prefix digits to remove on a successful match. The dialed number is compared to this and the subsequent columns for a match. Upon a match, this prefix is removed from the dialed number before sending it to the trunks.
Match Pattern Field: The dialed number will be compared against the prefix + this match pattern. Upon a match, the match pattern portion of the dialed number will be sent to the trunks.
CallerID Field: If CallerID is supplied, the dialed number will only match the prefix + match pattern if the CallerID being transmitted matches this. When extensions make outbound calls, the CallerID will be their extension number and NOT their Outbound CID.
Trunk Sequence for Matched Routes
Select one or more trunks that are to be used by this route in the Trunk Sequence for Matched Routes section of the page. (You will need to configure the trunks first, then the trunks will show up in the drop-down list.)
Optional Destination on Congestion
Optionally you can choose the treatment of the call when there is congestion.
